THANK YOU, Mr. Wright......

Year 2000 - The Entire Cricket World is in turmoil, shocked, flabbergasted, shocked.

Indian Cricket is in tatters. Match fixing allegations, players suspended, a completely morally shaken Indian cricket team existed that nobody had any trust on.

Enters Mr Wright. John Wright of New Zealand. And what a transformation. From then there had been no looking back. Suddenly the entire image of Indian cricket team changed. People started respecting them and the team with the backing of this great coach and ofcourse the fellow country men and women, started performing. There have been significant achievements during John Wright's tenure.

The fabulous come from behind test series victory over Australia @ Home, a test match victory in England, the Natwest One day series victory in England, the one day and test series victories over Pakistan in Pakistan, a test victory and a drawn test series against Australia in Australia and ofcourse India making it to the finals of the WORLD CUP in South Africa are some of the achievements of Indian team under his reign.

The players saw a philosopher, a guide, a mentor in Wright and what was achieved was sheer magic. The coach-captain combination went off well without friction and this resulted in positive effect and attitude among the team members as well. Credit has to be given to Ganguly-Wright team for whatever heights Indian cricket, off late has seen. The famous World Cup huddle just showed the unity..India had become a force to reckon with in world cricket.

The current India-Pakistan one day series was his last series as India's coach and a victory here would have been an ideal farewell to him, but that was not meant to be. Indian cricket is again at crossroads yet again..what remains to be seen whether newer heights are reached or not....

But Thank you, Mr.Wright for turning a bunch of boys in blue into men in blue and showing what team spirit is....the Indian team still crumbles under pressure but at least there is no fear and insecurity now.....

THANK YOU and GOOD LUCK.
